This Apprenticeship Program, at Pens & Needles Custom Tattoo Company, fulfills the state requirements for artists seeking a career in tattooing. The course is a total of over 244 hours of education with over 96 hours of observation, 4 hours of The Blood Borne Pathogens Course (provided by the El Paso County Health Department), and 6 hours of education (provided by The American Red Cross). There are 6 lessons in this course which include:
- REGULATIONS OF THE EL PASO COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF
HEALTH AND ENVIROMENT.
- SAFETY, SANITATION AND STERILIZATION
- THE SKIN, DISORDERS AND DISEASES
- MACHINE, NEEDLES AND EQUIPMENT
- DESIGN, COLOR THEORY AND AFTERCARE
- CLIENT SERVICES AND BUSINESS OPERATIONS
The practical learning includes observation of tattoo artists and business operations, hands on learning with second skin and finally supervised procedures on human skin. The program is offered on a full time basis of 4 hours 3 days a week for a total of 12 weeks until completion, or a part-time basis picked to fit your schedule. All students must be at least 18 years of age and provide a diploma or GED certification. This program will prepare students for a career in the tattooing industry.
